About Prayagraj
Prayagraj — known as Allahabad until 2018 — sits at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga and Yamuna rivers meet the mythical, invisible Saraswati. The Sangam is considered one of the holiest bathing sites in Hinduism, and taking a dip here is the centrepiece of most visits.
The city hosts the Kumbh Mela on a rotating cycle, including the Maha Kumbh Mela held here in 2025 — one of the largest human gatherings on Earth. Beyond the Sangam, Prayagraj is also home to the Lete Hanuman Mandir, Akshaya Vat, and a mix of Mughal and colonial-era landmarks.

Best Time to Visit Prayagraj
October to March is the most comfortable time to visit, with cool weather suited to time at the Sangam and sightseeing. April to June gets very hot, and July to September is the monsoon, when river levels rise significantly.
The Magh Mela (January/February) draws large crowds every year for ritual bathing at the Sangam, and the periodic Kumbh Mela — including Maha Kumbh 2025 — is by far the busiest and most significant time to visit, though also the most crowded.
