What Makes the Dev Diwali Ganga Aarti Different
Varanasi's evening Ganga Aarti happens every night at Dashashwamedh Ghat — but on Dev Deepawali, it's scaled up considerably. Multiple ghats hold their own aartis at the same time, priests perform with larger fire lamps, and the whole riverfront is lined with thousands of diyas rather than just the main ghat.
The main Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat still draws the biggest crowds — expect the ghat steps themselves to be packed well before the ceremony starts. Everything else — the laser show, fire show, and the diya-lit ghats — happens around the same window, roughly 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Timing for the Aarti is set by UP Tourism and local temple committees, not by any tour operator — so treat published times as approximate and be ready a little early.
